OLDER - Lamp Pixilation

I've only just realised that you can directly upload video to blogger, so here's my lamp pixilation from earlier that I only posted a link to :3



You can submit this with the rest of your work to improve your marks, right?

I'll post my analysis on an object once I've decided what to look at. I figured either a PlayStation controller or DreamCast controller (doubt anyone else'll choose that XD)

I got it editted and uploaded to YouTube now. I'm most proud of the filter used on it, making it look more like a cartoon, even though you can tell it's real life.



Wow, YouTube kinda killed the quality.

I wish our camera work wasn't so shaky, but the tripod didn't reach that high. Also, the batteries ran out near the beginning, so we had to go buy some new ones and couldn't find the right spot we left off in.

I found the music on FlashKit.com. It was posted by IceX, who had a ton of techno loops there. I needed to get a lightswitch SFX for the bit at the end, but that was pretty easy 'cause there's so many free sounds websites out there.

Coming up later today: My mini book analysis. I chose The Animator's Survival Kit, 'cause I couldn't find anything on the reading list and I know it'll help me (wouldn't guess I want to go for animation, would ya? ;P)

Giving it a go

I decided on my day off that I'd try some more stopmotion/pixilation stuff, so I thought I'd use the daylight lamp that's somehow wound up in my room (I think it was when I was late-night reading and my main light wasn't bright enough). Anyway, I got everything set up, and found out that my laptop doesn't have a firewire port (dunno how they skipped that), so I used my webcam instead. Then an electrition came for a couple of hours, checking all the lights and plugs, so most of the momentum I gained suring that morning sort of fizzled away into the abyss.

But at least I got something done, so that's a good thing.

Pixilation

On Thursday I had my first proper seminar, where he had to create a short 30 second film using pixilation. Pixilation is when you create a stop motion animation using live figures, like people.

One of my favourite examples of pixilation is The Garden by GIR2007



The chair effect has always been my favourite, and the leaves hiding from the leave blower made me laugh. The part where the guy mowed the lawn with his teeth was one of the most unusual things I'd ever seen, but I think that's why I always remember it so well.

Well, while these guys had a month to create and edit this, we were given two hours. Due to some problems (being unable to pick an idea and a fire drill), we didn't get all the shots we needed, but we can do back and redo/take more images for editing next week. I'll post it on my YouTube account and embed it here when it's up.

Going off topic, I looked at my timetable for next week. On Thursday, it doesn't list that there's a lecture from 12:00-1:00pm. Does anyone know what's up with that?

Also, does anyone know how to embed flash into a blog? I looked up the coding, but it doesn't seem to work. I'd appreciate any help.
