Could OnLive make PC upgrades a thing of the past?

Just found this on Kotaku. It's a new service announced at GDC that allows any computer with a brouadband of faster internet connection to play high-spec PC games through a video streaming service.

So, there's a couple of thoughts that come to mind with this service. It sounds like it would be an amazing way for people with low-spec PCs to try out and play games, but would the excessive use of the internet to stream the video feed 'cause either the computers the games are running on or the connection itself to crash? There are bound to be setbacks with a service said to be so convenient, but this is the best innovation for gaming I've seen in ages.

And not in the creepy stalker way, either. I mean by taking on a different appearence and name, being more confident as your alter ego and all the other stuff we learnt last year during the identities project. I just found this from a webcomic I visit.



I love seeing all the different kinds of avatars for everyone, especially when they're all in different shapes, sizes and styles.
